Narantuul Market

The central market of Ulaanbaatar- Narantuul market is located in the eastern part of Ulaanbaatar city. Pre 1990s Ulaanbaatar had a smaller markets located throughout various areas in the ger districts. Actual market Narantuul is relatively new and started in 1993 at Ger district of Chingeltei. The market on the current site opened in 1999. 

Narantuul market is now considered one of the largest in Asia, covering 22.2 hectares employing more than 300 staff while housing over 15,000 traders, producers, and service providers.

On a busy weekend, it is estimated that over 100,000 shoppers will pass through its lime green gates.  By 2023’s study, on average, 42,800 people visit Narantul shopping center every day. This trade activity of people has a significant impact on traffic jams in Ulaanbaatar.

Here you can buy medium quality imported goods from Russia, China and Turkey at low prices, as well as many traditional clothes, ornaments, antiques and handicraft items. As well as all there is everything needed to build and kit to assemble a Mongolian ger,

 

Narantuul market opens 9 am – 7 pm. But it’s better to shop here from 11am 5pm when traders place their products ready for selling.
